The Great Crested Grebe is a bird found near rivers, freshwater streams, lakes...and on all the banks of the Loire!

It only takes flight once a year when it migrates to coastal areas.

Generally sedentary, the great crested grebe is sometimes forced to go into exile along sandy coasts, because of the frost which covers the continental fresh waters to which it is accustomed.
