WHITE STILT WITH ITS LITTLE FIGURINE

The Black-winged Stilt nests in colonies in salt marshes or ponds. It can be observed on the Isle of Ré, the Isle of Noirmoutier, in the Bay of Somme, etc.

The Black-winged Stilt may nest in mixed colonies with avocets.

It has the particularity, if an intruder approaches while the chicks are in the nest, of performing a parade in order to simulate a broken wing to drive the intruder away.
